To see the city of Orlando redeemed by the power of the gospel for the glory of God.

Children of the Promise

Today was an absolute joy! It is almost midnight and I am reflecting on the amazing opportunity to dedicate these three beautiful babies to the Lord. Each of the families in this picture mean so much to me because they are stories that matter to God. It truly makes me excited that our church has the opportunity to be involved in the lives of these children and families.

It is the mission of CrossPointe to point people to Jesus Christ and that is what we celebrated today. That we will point these children to a hope in Jesus.

Entering the kingdom like children.

In Mark 10.14 Jesus says:  “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God."

The call to us as parents to raise our children is that they would love Jesus. That they would never lose their since of awe and wonder of the world around them. We as parents must trust that God created these children for this purpose that they would grow up to worship Jesus and live for him. This is why it is important that we train them.

Train up a Child

Proverbs 22.6 says Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Teaching our children is not simply about what we say to them but setting for them an example in the way we love our lives. Parents does your life demonstrate that you love Jesus? Will your children see this in you? Maybe you have heard the expression the best teaching isn’t taught but caught.

Repentant parents, repentant children

We do this in the everyday moments of life as we talk about God to our children, and walk in reliance upon his grace for daily living. My Pastor, Chan Kilgore has regularly said, "Parents remember that you are never going to be perfect parents but you must be repentant parents". This models for your children what repentance looks like. It will free them from the pressures of being perfect children and allow them to live as repentant children to trust that Jesus is the one that they run to because they have witnessed you run to Jesus above anything or anyone else.

Children of God's covenant promise

Genesis 17.7

And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your offspring after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your offspring after you.

Ultimately we trust in God for our children, because they are not our own. They are his!
