Today I am reminded of the many that have served our country in order that we can experience the freedom we have today. Some have been through WWII to the most recent wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. As I have heard stories and witnessed the personal toll this has sometimes taken on a person and their family, I celebrate God’s grace on this country with gratitude to them.
This past Sunday I used this story of Dwight D. Eisenhower to highlight the importance of EVERY Christian in the body of Christ.
General Eisenhower once rebuked one of his Generals for referring to a soldier as "just a Private." He reminded him that the Army could function better without its Generals than it could without its foot soldiers. "If this war is won," he said, "it will be won by Privates."
For every American we must realize that we have a part to play in serving, loving, and sacrificing for our country. While America is deeply flawed because of sin it should cause us to press in and see to it that we experience God’s grace together.
